OLYMPIA, WA — Washington State regulators have temporarily halted a previously announced plan to prohibit the retail sale of certain cannabis-infused products, such as hard candies and fruit chews.
Members of the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board will now take public comments on the proposed new rules, and “consider any alternative proposals from the industry.”
The agency is also anticipated to hold a meeting later this month to further debate the issue.
The agency had previously announced that sales of infused products that may be “especially appealing” to children will no longer be permitted.
The specific products targeted by the Board were: “hard candy,” “tarts,” fruit chews,” jellies,” and “all gummy type products.”
